Statement and Procedures
The hiring rate will be set according to the competitive market classification salary range assigned based on the skills, expertise and internal value of the job. The hiring salary can be no less than the minimum salary of the grade, and no more than the hiring maximum of the grade. Only in the event of extraordinary circumstances, requiring Human Resources Department and VP-level approval, will an exception be considered. Hiring rates should be commensurate with employee’s qualifications and related experience, and consistent with internal equity and departmental budget guidelines.
The Department of Human Resources develops, administers and interprets the University's compensation policies.
